Camping near Los Angeles: beach sites - Los Angeles Weather

Escaping the dense fog and traffic that is only exacerbated by weekend fever can be a tantalizing concept that every Los Angeles resident ponders every now and then. The sea can be a beautiful and cleansing rest from these doldrums. From a weather standpoint, onshore flow pushes coastal air in the valleys creating the marine layer the area wakes to every single morning and moving pollutants away from the coastline and in to the eastern basin (Blumenthal, et al.). Camping with the ocean can relieve the worries of urban life and refuge from smog as well as the colloquially dubbed '405 Parking Lot', a bitter yet affectionate name that rings too true.
Refugio State Beach
Located along Highway 101, this park sits 20 miles west of Santa Barbara. This area offers fishing and hiking trails along with kayak trails obtainable in both intermediate and beginner levels. Camping as of this coastal area is possible by tent or RV. Lifeguards are saved to patrol all year round, though towers are manned only from Memorial Day weekend through Labour Day weekend.
El Capit??n State Beach
Another sandy retreat right off of Highway 101, El Capi??n is settled up against the beach with tidepools and dense oak and sycamore trees close to the adjacent El Capit??n Creek. One can enjoy swimming, fishing and surfing by the pool which is connected to the bluffs above via stairwell.
Carpinteria State Beach
With bluffs that jut 100 feet above the Pacific shoreline, Carpenteria offers beautiful views of the surrounding area and also Anacapa, Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa islands. Visitors can take advantage Domaine Des Bon Vivants Calendar of Events fishing, hiking along with the gentle waves that have made Carpinteria a trendy family getaway in recent times. Nearby, Harbor Seal Preserve sits as a small swath of beach which is closed to humans from December through May; the colonies of seals that make the beach home could be observed from an observation area set atop your local bluff.
Doheny State Beach
With a flourishing campsite, accommodations for groups of up to 100 or even more and daytime facilities, Doheny State Beach now offers surfing, surf fishing and volleyball courts. During the summertime, the beach park holds daytime Junior Ranger events and evening campfires with many of their activities beginning toward the end of June.
Point Mogu State Park
With beaches, bluffs, sand dunes, valleys and two river canyons, Point Mogu State Park also encompasses 70 miles of trails along with swimming, surfing and surf fishing down the beach in the Santa Monica Mountains. Point Mogu State Park also encompasses Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area, the place to find one with the highest points inside Santa Monica range: Boney Peak.
