FOOD INFORMATION

Many people believe that if a Hamburger Fries & Shake (youtu.be) is brown at the center, it's done. However, exploring the color and texture of food is not enough?you have to use a food thermometer to make certain! According to USDA research, 1 out of every 4 hamburgers turns brown before it reaches a safe internal temperature. The only safe strategy to know if meat, poultry, and egg dishes are "done" is to make use of a food thermometer. When a hamburger is cooked to 160 ?F, it's both safe and delicious!

Steps to adhere to to prepare to get a possible weather emergency:

"Power outages can happen at any time of the season and it may take from several hours to many days for electricity to become restored to residential areas," said USDA Under Secretary for Food Safety Dr. Richard Raymond. "Foods stored in freezers and refrigerators can be unsafe in just a few hours if bacteria begin to grow of course, if these foods are consumed, people can become very sick."

Store food on shelves that'll be safely off the beaten track of contaminated water in the case of flooding.

Have coolers available to keep refrigerator food cold when the power will probably be out for over four hours. Purchase or make ice cubes and store inside the freezer for use in the refrigerator or inside a cooler. Freeze gel packs ahead of time for usage in coolers.
