FOOD INFORMATION

Many people assume that if a Hamburger Fries & Shake is brown in the centre, it's done. However, exploring the color and texture of food is not enough?you will need to use a food thermometer to make certain! According to USDA research, 1 from every 4 hamburgers turns brown before it reaches a safe internal temperature. The only safe strategy to know if meat, poultry, and egg dishes are "done" is to make use of a food thermometer. When a hamburger is cooked to 160 ?F, it's both safe and delicious!

Steps to follow along with to prepare for any possible weather emergency:

"Power outages can take place at any time of the season and it often takes from a couple of hours a number of days for electricity to become restored to residential areas," said USDA Under Secretary for Food Safety Dr. Richard Raymond. "Foods stored in freezers and refrigerators may become unsafe in just a few hours if bacteria start to grow and when these foods are consumed, people could become very sick."

Store food on shelves that will be safely taken care of of contaminated water in case there is flooding.

Have coolers available to keep refrigerator food cold if your power is going to be out for more than four hours. Purchase or make ice cubes and store in the freezer for use within the refrigerator or inside a cooler. Freeze gel packs ahead of time to use in coolers.
