FOOD INFORMATION

Many people feel that if a hamburger is brown in the middle, it really is done. However, looking at the color and texture of meals are not enough?you need to use a food thermometer to be certain! According to USDA research, 1 of all the 4 hamburgers turns brown before it reaches a safe internal temperature. The only safe approach to know if meat, poultry, and egg dishes are "done" is to utilize a food thermometer. When a Hamburger Fries & Shake is cooked to 160 ?F, it's both safe and delicious!

Steps to follow along with to prepare for a possible weather emergency:

"Power outages can take place at any time of year and it often takes from a few hours a number of days for electricity to get restored to residential areas," said USDA Under Secretary for Food Safety Dr. Richard Raymond. "Foods saved in freezers and refrigerators may become unsafe in just a couple of hours if bacteria start to grow and when these foods are consumed, people could become very sick."

Store food on shelves that'll be safely out of the way of contaminated water in case there is flooding.

Have coolers available to keep refrigerator food cold when the power will likely be out for more than four hours. Purchase or make ice cubes and store within the freezer for use inside refrigerator or in a very cooler. Freeze gel packs ahead of time to use in coolers.
